HosPortal allows you to give shifts to others, or swap shifts with others, as part of a direct arrangement you make with the other person.
If you want to give away or swap a shift but do not yet have someone to give the shift to, you need to use the 'market' function, if your hospital allows it. Instructions for the market are here.
You must ensure that the shift is not on the the market before you attempt to swap or give away shifts. Click here for instructions on how to take a shift off the market.
Of course, you also must arrange the swap or gift with the other person!
First, pick the correct shift
Basically, wherever you can see your name on a call slot, you can click on it.
You can chose the call you want to swap from your dashboard:
Or the calendar view:
Or the week/month view (your shifts will be in crimson, with a small person next to your name)
Then make the gift
After selecting the shift, the following dialog will appear. (You may not see all three options if your hospital has not enabled them):
Click the 'Submit a pre-arranged swap or gift' button.
Choose the name of the person you are swapping with (see 'A' below) and whether it is a swap or gift ('B'). If you are at a hospital that uses selfrostering with a quota, then you can also elect to determine if you also transfers credit for meeting your quota ('C') with the shift. If in doubt, keep the default option ('Shift continues to count as credit towards your quota').
When you click 'Submit' a confirmation dialog will appear:
What happens after I complete a swap?
- An email is sent to you and the person you swapped with
- An email is sent to any number of administrators who have been designated to receive notice when a swap occurs
- A data trail is recorded and is shown beneath the list of calls on the 'call' screen visible to everyone.
