It is not possible to remove staff if they are listed as having on-call or allocation activity after the date their role is due to end.
Before you can end their role at your hospital, you need to remove their future activity.
Re-assigning future on-call activity
Where someone has an on-call shift you need to delete them from the shift and allocate someone else.
To delete them, edit the date of the shift and select the delete button ('A' in the screenshot below).
You do not want to leave the shift vacant, so the vacant shift then needs to be filled by picking the 'add user' button ('B').
There are up to 4 options for filling the shift:
- Fill using the quota. If your hospital has created the roster through a self-roster process where users are allocated a quota, the best way is to use the 'Fill using quota' button ('C' below). This will pick from those people who have not yet filled their quota, with people least in compliance with their quota picked first.
- Pick a name directly from the list of available staff ('D')
- Put the shift on the market, to allow anyone eligible to do the roster it pick it up ('E')
- If you do not have a market function at your hospital, use the request a volunteer button ('F'). This should not be used if you have the option to put the shift on the market.
Once you have selected the new staff member, select 'publish' to confirm the selection, or select 'draft' to save the option but not make it visible to others ('G'), for instance if you want to review and publish later. Note that the person who is selected to do the shift will not be aware until the shift is published.
